Maulana Tariq Jamil confirms the death of his son Asim, asks for prayers

Asim Jamil, the son of the well-known Islamic scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil, has sadly passed away in the town of Talamba in Punjab on Sunday, as per his family’s statement.

Tariq, confirming the news through a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressed that the “unfortunate accident” ” had turned the atmosphere mournful.

“We request you to keep us in your thoughts and prayers during this sorrowful time. May Allah bless my son with a lofty place in heaven,” he added.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammad Saleem from Mian Channu, Asim was taken to the Talamba Rural Health Centre, where he was declared deceased.

He further mentioned that the body is currently being transferred to the family’s residence from the health centre.

In a statement from the Punjab police spokesperson, it was mentioned that Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar has taken note of the incident and has requested a report from the Multan regional police officer.

 

“The cause of death should be ascertained based on the available evidence and the forensic report,” he emphasized. The police statement also noted that the Khanewal district police officer and other senior personnel were present at the scene, and they have gathered evidence.

 

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf extended his heartfelt condolences and support to the grieving family.

Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti expressed his deep regret over the incident.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif also extended his condolences to the family, saying, “We all share your grief over this unfortunate accident.”

In his latest tweet, Maulana Tariq Jamil informed that the funeral prayer (Namaz-e-Janazah) will take place on Monday at 8:30 AM in the village of Raees Abad, Talamba.
